What is our grading policy?

50% Daily Grades
50% Test Grades
Daily
Reading Plus 5 days = 1 daily grade
Accelerated Reader 5 days = 1 daily grade
Spelling 5 days = 1 daily grade
Weekly Reading / Writing assignments = 1 daily grade
Tests
Spelling Test every Friday = 1 test grade
Reading Plus overall % for six weeks = 1 test grade
AR Book Report = 1 test grade
Six week test = 1 test grade
Extra Credit
Accelerated Reader Test points = extra credit points added to lowest grade

What is our behavior policy?

- Computers - Grab your laptop computer, log in, start Reading Plus.
- Library book - Grab your library book, open it, start reading.
- We do not talk during Reading Plus or AR Time.
- Respect your teacher and classmates.
- During instruction - Respect and listen to the teacher.
- Raise your hand to speak.
- Use your time wisely - complete classwork so you don’t have homework
- Stay seated during classwork.

What are our Accelerated Reader expectations?
Posted by:Our library day for 6th grade ELAR is Tuesdays.
Every student must keep at least one chapter book with them at all times.
Accelerated Reader Test points = extra credit points added to lowest grade
Every student must complete a library book report at the end of every six weeks.
Reminder: there will be AR rewards every six weeks and at the end of the school year!
Rewards include Free Dress Pass, Fancy Breakfast, Pizza Party, etc.

When are our AR Book Points & Book Reports Due?

6th 6 weeks - Book Points and Report due May 5

How long do I have to make up missed assignments?
Posted by:You will have the same number of days as you were absent.
Absent two days = two days to make up.
Coach Van will remind you once about a missing assignment or missing grade. He will not pester or beg you to complete assignments.
Grades become permanent after each three-week progress report and six-week report card.
