    MINUTES

    1. Call To Order

    The meeting of the Cuero ISD Safety and Security Committee was called to order by Ruby Rodriguez on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the Cuero ISD Board Room located at 960 East Broadway. 

    1. Introductions

    The following members were present:

    1. Minutes of Previous Meeting

    Mrs. Wanda Hays made the motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Seconded by Mr. Bo Daniel..  Motion carried..

    1. District Audit Report 2017-2020 Update 

    Mrs. Ruby Rodriguez reported the Texas State University TX Schools Safety Center has not yet updated the audit toolkit with the SB11 requirements.  Updates to the audit cycle and other toolkits are in progress.  The next District Audit Report is due September 2020.

    1. HB496:  Stop The Bleed Update

    Mrs. Wanda Hays reported the Stop The Bleed kits were strategically placed in areas easily accessible and nearby where AEDs were placed throughout the district.  A map was provided to all committee members with the location of district AEDs. 

    Mrs. Heather Stewart reported the Jr. High National Jr. Honor Society students have been holding bake sales to raise funds for the purchase of classroom tourniquet kits.  The student led project is within $300 of their goal.

    1. Review of Drills & Future Drills

    Mr. Paul Fleener reported the Cuero High School lockdown drill went very well.  A reverse evacuation of the entire school also went well during the recent power outages.  

    Mrs. Kim Fleener reported the Cuero Jr. High School has been working with Officer Rhonda Templin on drills.  She also recommended a district wide drill similar to the one held in the spring of 2019 be scheduled for the 2020 school year before standardized assessment dates.  

    Mr. Kenneth Hayman reported Hunt Elementary has had 3 successful fire drills.

    1. School Safety Allotment Update

    Mrs. Paula Brown reported the technology department is working with a vendor to install phones into every classroom in the district.

    1. 2019-2021 School Safety and Security Grant Update

    Mr. Dwayne Noack reported the district is requesting quotes for the installation of bullet resistant film for the main entrances of each school.  

    Mrs. Ruby Rodriguez reported the film can increase response time and played a video demonstrating how bullet resistant film can reduce an intruders ability to breach glass entry points.  A handout was provided to all committee members with more information on bullet resistant film.
