Dear Parents and Guardians,
This letter is to inform you that October 9th is the last day of online instruction. Starting October 13th CISD will only offer face-to-face instruction. Students online can continue for now, but online instruction will be ending.
As you know, students may return next week as long as they check-in by September 30th. All CISD students are expected to return to on-campus instruction starting October 13th-15th. If you have not checked your child in by that time, they will be considered absent.
Families who do not want their child/children to return to face to face instruction will have the following alternatives: home school, enroll in Texas Virtual School Network or another program, or transfer to a district that offers online instruction. If you choose any of these options, you must withdraw your student from school.
Students will only have access to online learning or at home work if they are on a mandatory quarantine by the COVID team, a physician, or medical provider. If a student is quarantined they may contact the school for assignments or log in to the Google Classroom/See Saw platform to complete work depending on teacher/course.
We understand not everyone will agree with this decision. This decision was not made in haste and after doing our due diligence, we believe this is the best option for our students and staff. We will still follow our STRONG START plan. Safety and thorough cleaning protocols will still be in place. As we are going into the sixth week being back in school, we have only had 12 cases or 0.6% percent of our students and staff contracting COVID-19. No lab confirmed case of COVID-19 has been contracted or transmitted at CISD as verified through contact tracing.
For the Children,
Micah A. Dyer, Ed.D.
