"Children and Parents: Growing, Learning and
Reaching for Tomorrow"
Even Start Program:
"Empowering Families with an Even Start in Life"
The mission of the Even Start Program is to break the cycle of illiteracy
by improving educational opportunities of families through adult education,
integrating early childhood education, and parenting education into a
unified family-centered program.
Pregnancy,
Education, and Parenting (PEP) Program:
"Empowering Teenagers to Become Independent Nurturing Parents"
The mission of the CISD PEP Program is to enable school age parents, through
education, to become self-sufficient, responsible, job-oriented citizens.
The primary goal is to reduce the number of students who drop out of school
due to pregnancy and/or parenthood and to recover young parents who are
21 years old or younger to the educational system. In addition, the Program
strives to provide health education and parent education to prevent subsequent
pregnancies among teens, promote healthy development of children, and
facilitate the parent/child relationship.
Parents
As Teachers (PAT) Program:
PAT is an early childhood parent education and family support program
designed to help all parents give their children the best possible start
in life. PAT provides parents with information on child development, prenatal
to age five, and involves parents in learning activities with their child
that encourage language and intellectual growth, physical skills, and
socio-emotional skills.
