For the past 2 years Claevon has been one of the main cogs on the Gobbler track team. He ran on the 4x100 team that finished 5th at the state track meet last year. This year his leadership has been an inspiration to the Gobbler track team. He has run on all three relays this year along with running the 400 meter dash. His best time this year is 49.20 and this will put him in the running to get a medal Saturday. After graduating at the end of May, Claevon plans on attending Southwest Texas State in San Marcos and playing football. Thank you Claevon for all that you have done for the Gobbler athletic program the past 4 years!

Credit By Exam Information

The state’s education law, the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), will allow students to obtain credit in a course or grade level by passing tests approved by school district trustees.  Texas law, 19 TAC Chapter 74, allows students to "test out of a course" by taking a “Credit by Examination" without prior instruction in the course(s) being tested.  To earn credit for a grade or a subject the student must answer 80% of the questions correctly.  In accordance with local school district policy, a student in any of Grades 6-12 may be given credit for an academic subject in which he or she had some prior instruction, if the student scores 70% on the test.  The tests are rigorous, targeting all the objectives for the courses covered.

The tests will be administered in Victoria through Region III Education Service Center on June 20, 21, and 22, 2018 and again on July 11, 12, and 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on each date.  Registration applications may be picked up in Cuero ISD school district and campus counselor offices in May and are due completed to the campus counselor office by May 21, 2018.  There are no fees or costs to take the tests.

For more information call your campus counselor or Dr. Pam Longbotham at (361) 275-1922.

Immunizations for Incoming 7th Graders

Dear Parents/Guardians of Students entering 7th grade in August 2018:

This notice  is to inform you of the immunizations needed to ensure your student can attend the first day of school August 15, 2018. Texas law requires students attending school to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. Students without proof of required immunizations will not be given their schedule for the 2018-2019 school year until this proof is received.

Immunization requirements for 7th graders consist of:

1.       One Tdap booster

2.       Two doses of varicella if not already received

3.       One dose of quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate (MCV4 or MenACWY) vaccine

4.       Two doses of hepatitis A

Cuero ISD encourages you to get your child vaccinated early to avoid the end-of-summer vaccination rush.  Schedule an appointment now with your child’sphysician.  The Dewitt County Health Department also administers immunizations to Medicaid and no Insurance patients on Monday 1pm-5pm; Wednesday 3pm-5pm; and Friday 9am -11am for $20.00.

Please watch our District Website/ Facebook and The Cuero Record for more details.
